What is Philips SpeechLive?
SpeechLive moves your dictation workflow into the cloud. Authors record from anywhere, the file lands in the right person’s queue, and everyone can see where each job stands, with no devices or email attachments to pass around.
Voice Recording
Use the phone app, dictate at your desk with Philips hardware, or upload files from a handheld recorder.
Speech-to-Text
Optional speech recognition returns an editable draft, so your staff spends time correcting, not typing.
In-House Transcription
Send recordings to your own typists, set priorities, and see what’s pending or done from a shared worklist.
Transcription Services
No typist on staff? Send files to a professional transcription service and get the finished document back.
How Philips SpeechLive Works
Three steps take a dictation from recording to finished document, whether a person or software does the typing.
Record
Dictate at your desk or between appointments. When you finish, the recording goes straight to the cloud.
Route
Pick who handles it: your assistant, a coworker, a transcription service, or speech recognition software.
Receive
The finished document comes back to you. Open it in the web app or on your phone, or get an email when it’s ready.

Frequently Asked Questions
Professionals who create a lot of documents and would rather dictate than type, from solo practitioners to large organizations:
- Law firms dictate case documents and send them straight to the right matter.
- Medical practices use it for secure, cloud-based patient notes.
- Construction teams record site reports, defect lists, and meeting minutes on-site.
- Finance teams turn recordings into reports and client communications.
- Journalists and investigators record interviews and statements on their phones and transcribe them with speaker identification.
Inside an office, it serves three roles:
- Authors dictate from a browser, phone, or handheld recorder.
- Assistants type from the audio with a foot pedal or correct speech recognition drafts.
- IT manages users, roles, and Microsoft sign-in from one admin portal.
Yes. Recordings are created, sent, and stored with AES 256-bit encryption, and US customer data is hosted on Microsoft Azure in Boydton, Virginia. Philips lists SpeechLive as HIPAA compliant and ISO 27001 certified. Admins can enforce multi-factor authentication, and staff can sign in with their Microsoft credentials. Recordings are never shared with AI providers or used to train AI models without your permission. Healthcare practices should still have their compliance team review the documentation before sending patient information.
Usually, yes. For law firms, SpeechLive connects with Clio, iManage, NetDocuments, and Actionstep, so dictations, transcripts, and attachments land in the right matter or document folder automatically. For everyone else, including medical practices, no direct integration is needed. With speech recognition, the SpeechLive Desktop App lets you dictate into any text field in any program, including your EHR. Enterprise also includes an API for custom connections. Tell us what you use and we’ll confirm the fit.
You can dictate with the SpeechLive phone app, your computer’s microphone or headset, a Philips SpeechMike or PocketMemo, or another compatible handheld recorder. Philips recommends the SpeechMike for the best speech recognition, and typists need a Philips foot pedal. In the office, SpeechLive runs in the latest Google Chrome on Windows 10/11 and macOS. In the field, you can record on your phone or recorder without a connection and upload the file once you’re back online.
It’s an add-on for Pro and Enterprise at $25.90 per user per month. It isn’t available on Basic. It adds punctuation automatically, and an assistant can make corrections with the original audio attached. Law firms can choose Speech Recognition Legal, which is trained on legal terminology. Medical practices can step up to the Health AI Assistant, which turns the patient conversation into a structured note for the clinician to review.
Yes. Multi-speaker transcription identifies each speaker and adds timestamps. That’s useful for client meetings, interviews, press events, and witness statements. It handles up to 10 speakers, and the AI can summarize the conversation and flag possible next steps.
Send recordings to Philips’ human transcription service. You prepay a balance, and each job is deducted automatically. English is $1.39 per minute with a 24-hour turnaround on up to 120 minutes of audio, and rush jobs are 25% extra for a 5-hour turnaround on up to 25 minutes. Jobs aren’t sent to home-based workers. The finished document is attached to the original dictation, and you can also have it emailed to you.
If you’re on version 10 or older, plan for it now. Philips took the license server for those versions offline in June 2023, so they can’t be reinstalled or reactivated on a new computer. That becomes a real problem when you replace PCs for Windows 11. SpeechLive works with your existing Philips microphones, recorders, and foot pedals, and Philips currently offers SpeechExec users 30% off the first year. We’ll handle the move.
Start with the plan price above, then factor in three things. First, every user needs a license, including typists; one author with two assistants needs 3 licenses. Second, speech recognition is a separate add-on per user. Third, the transcription service is billed per minute. Also note that Basic is limited to the phone app and file upload, so anyone dictating at a desk with a SpeechMike needs Pro or Enterprise. Tell us how your team works and we’ll give you a real number.
Yes. The free trial includes every Enterprise feature, requires no credit card, and ends automatically after two weeks. It includes 200 speech recognition minutes per user, and you can add up to 10 users. We’ll set it up and help your team test your real workflow.
